Mast Irham has been doing photography since he was a student at Communication Study at Sebelas Maret University in Solo, Central Java. Before he finished his undergraduate study, he had joined Antara news agency as a contributing photographer. After graduation, he worked for Media Indonesia newspaper until 2004, when he was chosen as one of the participants of photojournalism workshop organized by World Press Photo and Asia Europe Foundation in Hanoi, Vietnam. He later joined European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) in August 2004. During the more than 10 years of his career, Irham has been covering politics, economy, disaster, and sport events both in Indonesia and abroad. Among his notable experience were covering earthquake and tsunami in Aceh, and Bali bombing. His foreign assignments include Aung San Suu Kyii release in Myanmar, Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne, Australia, and earthquake in Nepal, Brazil's World Cup. Irham is now EPA chief photographer for Indonesia.
